MEADVILLE, Pa. – Allegheny Director of Athletics and Recreation Portia Hoeg and men's and women's tennis head coach Jared Luteran have announced Wednesday the hiring of Jonathan Gordon to the position of assistant tennis coach.
Gordon was previously the National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) site manager and head instructor at the Legacy Tennis Youth Tennis Camp in Philadelphia, Pa. In this role, Gordon was charged with the instruction of 40 beginner tennis players between the ages of seven and 16 and the coaching of the boys and girls intermediate teams. Gordon also supervised a staff of six while orchestrating and executing daily lessons.
In 2011, Gordon fulfilled a similar role at the Norristown Police Athletic League NJTL Summer Tennis Camp, supervising 46 students and four assistant instructors. In this role, Gordon also organized and assisted with fundraisers and sign-up events.
From Oct. 2010 to Mar. 2012, Gordon prepared and taught tennis lessons as head instructor for the Rodney Street Tennis and Tutoring Association in Wilmington, Del. Gordon taught class sizes ranging from six to 18 students from the age of six to 18 three times a week.
A native of Denver, Pa., Gordon played tennis at West Chester University in West Chester, Pa. Gordon earned a Bachelor of Science in health and physical education from WCU in Dec. 2011.
