SKILLMAN, N.J. – Thomas Manning, a senior on the Allegheny College men's tennis team, gained the first singles national ranking in program history this afternoon from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

Manning enters the Division III rankings at No. 50 after his historic run to the quarterfinals of the ITA Central Regional in late September. The Ithaca, N.Y. native became the first Gator to advance past the Round of 16 in the competition and was victorious in the first set of the quarterfinals against the University of Chicago's Nicolas Chua. Chua would eventually claim the singles championship at the end of the tournament.

In his career thus far, Manning has amassed 62 singles wins and 53 in doubles competition. Both his single victory total and 115 combined wins are currently the sixth-highest marks in program history.

As a team, Allegheny slots in at No. 15 in the first edition of the Central regional rankings. The Gators are one of six North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) teams recognized by the ITA, joining Kenyon, DePauw, Denison, Oberlin, and Wabash. Individually, Manning added to his accolades by claiming the No. 13 individual ranking in the region.

The Gators are back in action on Feb. 13, 2016 when travel to Erie to face NCAC foe Denison.
