Gator Tennis Finishes in Top 3 at Talent Show!

Justin Bieber sings Baby, Baby

Snooki admires Vinny’s muscles while Tim Tebow is Tebowing in the background

Both teams made a valiant effort to defend their title from last year at this year’s Student-Athlete Talent Show. They finished in third place with an original skit where they recreated a mock awards show imitating various celebrities including the Jersey Shore cast, Justin Bieber, Charlie Sheen and Tim Tebow. Once again 5 year old Lucas Luteran made a cameo and so did both coaches. The tennis team finished in third place, but there is a lot of speculation as to whether there may have been a mathematical error with the final scores. There are also rumors swirling of judge tampering. Either way, we know that tennis will be back again next year with another entertaining and original skit.

Coach Luteran Takes Trivia Champs Out To Lunch

Some Allegheny tennis players got a break from the hustle and bustle of life on the hill Wednesday as Coach Luteran took them out to lunch at a nearby local restaurant. Earlier in the year the men's and women's team divided up and competed in a trivia game regarding all things tennis related. The prize for the game was a lunch at Julian's Grill in Meadville. Alex Hurtuk, Janna Dickerson, Pat Cole, and Dan Conroy were the lucky winners!

Allegheny Tennis Travels to Buffalo To Watch Past Champions

Members of the Allegheny tennis team traveled to Buffalo this past weekend to watch several former American champions compete in the HSBC Tennis Cup. The event featured four tennis greats: John McEnroe, Jim Courier, Michael Chang, and Todd Martin. The semi-final match ups were McEnroe vs. Courier and Chang vs. Martin, with McEnroe and Martin both winning with relative ease. Courier seemed to be in high spirits after his match, as he signed autographs for two Allegheny players following his defeat. The final was an entertaining one, and the crowd got what they wanted when the New Yorker McEnroe defeated Todd Martin.

Gator Tennis Teambuilding

The night before our season opener against PS-Behrend, the men's and women's teams decided to participate in some team-building activities so that they could better get to know one another. In addition to playing the human knot (pictured above) both teams played a version of charades where each team had to decipher what professional tennis player or Allegheny tennis player their teammates were imitating.

Team Plays Football in the Snow

A group of Gator tennis players celebrated the last day of classes Wednesday and faced off against each other in a game of football. Weather conditions made the game a challenge as snow falling accumulated on the 2 feet plus that already lay on the ground. Footballs were not the only thing being thrown around as the occasional snowball found its target. Following the game the team enjoyed a nice cup of hot chocolate to warm back up.

Holiday Dinner at Coach Luteran's House

Coach Luteran was kind enough to have both teams over for a holiday dinner this past weekend. The teams enjoyed a feast of food all thanks to Coach Luteran and Coach Emily. The players ate, enjoyed eachother's company as well as cheered on their favorite NFL teams in Coach Luteran's basement. The evening served as a great chance for the men's and women's teams to get together and take a little break from their studies, relax and have fun. Finals are fastly approaching with the completion of first semester coming next week. Following finals the players will be heading home for the holidays and will be returning mid-January. Happy Holidays to all!

Fun Run at Woodcock Park

Sept 29, 2008

Meadville, PA. Today the men's and women's tennis team took a break from their normal practice routine and took a field trip to Woodcock Park. The team enjoyed a fun 2-mile run across the Woodcock dam followed by a trip to a local ice cream shop to enjoy a treat. This is just one example of the numerous activities that the Allegheny men's and women's tennis teams do together other than play tennis!
