HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Junior Patrick Cole notched another win in top-flight singles, helping lead the Gators to a 4-2 win in singles matches and a 5-4 match win over Wisconsin Eau-Claire on Thursday afternoon.
Cole, ranked as the no. 23 singles player by the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Central rankings released on Mar. 14, won his match, 6-1, 6-2 as the Gators swept the top two singles spots en route to the win. Freshman Tyler Triolo fell behind, 2-6, in the first set before taking a 6-1 decision in the second. Triolo would clinch the win with a 10-8 victory in the tie breaker.
Junior Frank Mosconi won his no. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-2. Freshman Thomas Manning would also pick up a dramatic win in singles, winning the first set 6-3 before needing a 10-3 tie-breaker win after dropping the second set.
The third-flight doubles team of Triolo and junior Daniel Conroy picked up the sole win for the Gators in doubles matches, 8-5.
