Men and Women Beat Ohio Wesleyan!



MEADVILLE, Pa. – The women picked up their third sweep of the spring, 9-0, over Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon at the Robertson Tennis Complex.

The Gators were sparked by three 6-0, 6-0 wins in singles matches along with a pair of 8-0 wins in doubles. Freshman Sloane Prince turned in a dominating performance in No. 3 singles, sweeping her match to compliment her decisive win in top-flight doubles with junior Carolyn Shetter.

Shetter picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win in top-flight singles, winning her seventh straight match and remaining undefeated in singles matches during the spring. Freshman Tiffany Kollah won her fourth straight decision in No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-1. Fellow first year Sun Mo Koo also picked up her fourth consecutive victory, taking a 6-4, 6-0 decision in No. 4 singles.

Freshman and No. 5 singles Mikaela Pope along with junior Laura Steele, who played in the No. 6 spot, swept their opponents, 6-0, 6-0.

The doubles team of Mo Koo and Kollah won an 8-0 decision in No. 3 doubles as Steele and freshman Andrea Brush battled to a 9-7 win in second-flight doubles.


MEADVILLE, Pa. – The men continued their stunning pace through the regular season schedule, maintaining their undefeated match record while picking up their first North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) East Division win, 8-1, over Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon at the Robertson Tennis Complex.

The doubles team of freshman Tyler Triolo and sophomore Daniel Conroy maintained their undefeated start to the spring season, 8-1, in No. 3 doubles to pace the Gators to a sweep in doubles matches. The top-flight pair of juniors Patrick Cole and Frank Mosconi won an 8-2 decision while sophomores Alexander Hurtuk and Sam Stephenson pulled out an 8-5 victory in No. 2 doubles.

Junior Patrick Cole, ranked No. 17 in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Central Poll, won his fourth consecutive straight-set match, 6-1, 6-4, in No. 1 singles. Freshman Thomas Manning maintained his undefeated spring record, 6-0, 6-1, in the No. 6 spot.

Allegheny third year Charlie Murphy dominated his No. 5 singles match, 6-2, 6-0, while Mosconi snapped a two-match skid with a decisive, 6-0, 6-4 victory. Triolo picked up a 6-4, 6-3 win in second-flight singles to help the Gators to a 5-1 record in singles.
