COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A 4-0 top-flight record earned Allegheny junior Patrick Cole North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Player of the Week honors, announced by the conference office on Monday.
Ranked No. 17 in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Regional poll, Cole finished the previous week with four top-flight wins, helping the Gators maintain their undefeated match record, which now stands at 10-0.
In singles, the junior used a 6-2, 6-2 win against Franciscan on Apr. 5 and an 6-1, 6-4 victory against NCAC East opponent Ohio Wesleyan on Apr. 6 to improve his record in solo matches to 6-1 in the spring. Cole has won five consecutive singles matches, taking the last four in straight sets.
Paired with fellow third year Frank Mosconi, Cole picked up two wins in No. 1 doubles, defeating Franciscan, 8-4 before an 8-2 win over Ohio Wesleyan. The pair of Cole and Mosconi enters the week winners of three conescutive decisions.
The Gators will next visit New Kensington, Pa. to take on Westminster on Wed., Apr. 10 before returning to the Robertson Tennis Complex on Fri., Apr. 12 to face Case Western Reserve before traveling to Wooster on Apr. 13.
