Congrats to Our Gator Women for their All-Conference Honors!!
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Two members of the Allegheny women's tennis team were named to the 2014 All-North Coast Athletic Conference team as announced by the conference office on Friday afternoon. Sophomore Sun Mo Koo earned her first All-NCAC distinction, leading the Gators with a spot on the second team singles list, while sophomore Andrea Brush, who also appeared on the All-NCAC team for the first time, earned honorable mention singles plaudits.
Koo makes her debut on the second team list after posting a 12-10 record in singles on the year. Playing in the first singles position for the Gators during the entirety of the spring season, Koo and had tremendous success during the Gators trip to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina where she went picked up an undefeated, 3-0 mark on the trip. Koo opened up the season with four consecutive wins, including a win over Kenyon in the first round of the 2013 Oberlin Invitational, opening the campaign with a pair of victories in the Nancy J. Heath Tournament, helping the Gators to their first tournament title since the 2007 campaign.
Brush also makes her debut on the All-NCAC list after spending time at the second and third singles position during her sophomore campaign. Brush went 14-7 on the year and 7-6 in the second singles position. The sophomore saw similar success to Koo in South Carolina, as Brush went an unprecedented 6-0 between singles and doubles bouts, earning NCAC Player of the Week honors on Mar. 24, 2014. Brush opened her season with six straight wins, including an unblemished, 3-0 mark at the Oberlin Invitational to compliment a 6-7 (3-7), 7-5, 10-4 win over Division II Edinboro at the Heath Invitational.
Finishing the 2013-14 campaign with a 12-8 overall record, the Gators used the season-opening Heath Invitational Championship to end the fall with a 4-1 record. After sweeping their way through the South Carolina Spring Break trip, the Gators finished the season in fifth, upending Wittenberg, 5-0, in their second round NCAC Tournament matchup on Apr. 26.
