Coaching Staff Attends ITA Convention and Recruiting Showcase

Coach Luteran and Coach Schreiner just returned from the 29th annual Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Coaches Convention and Recruiting Showcase in Naples, Florida. More than 300 college coaches from NCAA, NAIA and Junior College teams were in attendance.

The ITA Coaches Convention is one of the best professional development opportunities for collegiate tennis coaches today, and provided coaches with the opportunity to receive continuing education, participate in important association business meetings and serve as leaders in promoting the growth of varsity college tennis.

The Convention kicked off on Friday with the USTA Junior Showcase, a tennis tournament held on the clay courts of the Waldorf Astoria Naples. The Showcase featured some of Florida's most talented junior players hoping to catch the eyes of the attending coaches.

Throughout the weekend, coaches were treated to workshops led by some of the biggest names in the sport. Among the featured clinic presenters were world-class coach and player developer Nick Bollettieri plus 2013 Wilson/ITA National Division I Coaches of the Year Jenny Mainz (Alabama women) and Sam Winterbotham (Tennessee men).

In addition to offering clinics, panel discussions, an awards banquet, a trade show and a chance to exchange ideas, the ITA Coaches Convention is also the venue for the association's annual meetings, which includes ITA Operating Committee, Divisional Roundtable and General Membership sessions. Roger Crawford, the 2013 ITA Achievement Award winner, spoke at the General Membership meeting on Saturday morning. Crawford is a highly sought after motivational speaker and best-selling author.
