Gator Tennis Teams Claim ITA Academic Accolades

Both programs were named ITA All-Academic Teams and 10 student-athletes collected individual honors

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Allegheny College men's and women's tennis teams were recognized for their excellence in the classroom as both programs garnered All-Academic Team plaudits from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for the 2015-16 season.

A total of 10 student-athletes were named ITA Scholar Athletes after achieving the required 3.50 grade point average (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year. On the men's side, a trio of freshmen (Zach Anderson, Colton JohnsonTaylor, Mike Siegel), a sophomore (Niall Kneerim), and a senior (Tyler Triolo) all collected the honor. For the women, three seniors (Andrea Brush, Abby Lange, Mikaela Pope), a junior (Michaela Thompson), and a freshman (Heidi Mueller) were recognized for their academic achievement.

Brush, who owns top seven slots in the Allegheny record book for career singles (48) and combined (98) wins, closes her time in Meadville with her fourth consecutive ITA Scholar Athlete award. Triolo, who is the program's all-time leader in doubles victories (81), along with Lange and Thompson, are now three-time recipients of the honor.

Over 700 teams across NCAA Division I, II, and III, NAIA, and JUCO were named ITA All-Academic Teams. Programs must post a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale) in order to receive the award.

Women Beat Ohio Wesleyan at NCAC Tourney!

After 5 hours on court, our Gator Women pulled through over Ohio Wesleyan 5-3! Sophomore Jasmine Burton came back from being down 1-6, 3-0 to win her match in a third set and clinch the match for the Gators! And a special shoutout to our seniors! Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication over the last four years! You will be greatly missed! Today was a great day for our Gator Tennis Family! 🐊🎾‪#‎TheGatorWay‬

Men Beat Wabash at NCAC Tourney!

Gator Men's tennis ends the season with a big win over regionally ranked Wabash 5-4! After rain moved his match inside, senior Thomas Manning was able to pull out his match in a third set! Thank you to all our seniors who have represented us so well over the last four years! You will be greatly missed! 🐊🎾
