Pat Cole Wins Arthur Ashe Sportsmanship and Leadership Award!

SKILLMAN, N.J. – Junior Patrick Cole was named the Central Region Arthur Ashe Jr. Leadership and Sportmanship Award recipient, announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) central office on Monday, May 13.

In order to receive the honor, an athlete must be either a junior or senior member of an ITA member institution. The nominees are then judged based on tennis accomplishments, scholastic and extra-curricular achievements along with sportsmanship, leadership and character.

Cole also tied freshman Tyler Triolo as the new record holders for most doubles wins in a single season.

Off the court, Cole has played a major role in the Allegheny Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), elected to the President position for the 2013-14 season. Thus far in his career for the Blue and Gold, Cole is 57-15 in singles matches to compliment a 53-22 mark in doubles matches.

Next, Cole will advance to the national ballot, where he will be one of the student-athletes eligible to be selected for the National Arthur Ashe Jr. Award winner, co-sponsored by the ITA and United State Tennis Association (USTA).
