HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Allegheny women's tennis claimed a 7-2 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan in its second match during Spring Break.
The Gators won four individual matches and swept the doubles competition. Lauren Kristofco, Elyse Schmitt (pictured), Alyssa Tom and Deb Landau were singles winners for Allegheny.
Kristofco won the first singles match over Mikayla Albin, 6-2, 6-1, while Schmitt was victorious at third singles against Lexie Zouchia, 6-2, 6-4. Tom was a winner over Sarah Howe, 6-2, 6-3, at fifth singles and Landau won at sixth singles versus Becca Brown, 7-5, 3-6, 10-5.
In doubles competition, Kristofco and Sara Longo teamed to win on the first tier and they handled Albin and Chelsea Henslee, 8-2. At second doubles, Schmitt and Janna Dickerson defeated Zouchia and Mikela Caudill, 8-5, while at thirds, Landau and Margaret Hodgkiss-Lilly beat Brown and Howe, 8-6.
The Allegheny women (5-5) will continue play at Hilton Head Island on Tuesday. They will take on Nazareth at 8 a.m.
