HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Allegheny women's tennis team improved to 2-1 on its Spring Break trip as it won against Nazareth, 7-2, on Tuesday.
Allegheny won five of six singles matches and two of three doubles tilts. In singles action, winners were Sara Longo (pictured), Elyse Schmitt, Janna Dickerson, Alyssa Tom and Deb Landau.
Playing pro sets, Longo took the win at second singles, defeating Elizabeth Way, 8-5. At third singles, Schmitt won 8-6 over Jessica Faber while, in fourth singles, Dickerson handled Kelly Noble, 8-2. Tom swept Sherrita Wilkins, 8-0, at fifth singles and Landau won against Jen Crane in sixth singles, 8-2.
Longo teamed with Lauren Kristofco to win the first doubles match over Noble and Rachel Leonard, 8-6. At third doubles, Allison Elick and Meggie Oravec defeated Wilkins and Abbey Going, 8-2.
The Gators (6-5) will wrap up Spring Break action on Wednesday when they take on Saint Lawrence at 8 a.m.
