DELAWARE, Ohio - The Allegheny women's tennis team lost a nail-biter to Ohio Wesleyan, 5-4, on Saturday in non-division play. The defeat does not count as a conference loss for the Gators as the Battling Bishops are in the North Coast Athletic Conference West Division.

The Gators and Battling Bishops split singles play, winning three points apiece. However, Ohio Wesleyan decided the match by winning two of three doubles matches.

Lauren Kristofco, Elyse Schmitt (pictured) and Alyssa Tom were individual winners for Allegheny.

Kristofco won the first singles match against Amber Schneider, 6-1, 6-3, while Schmitt was victorious at third singles over Emily Kiourtsis, 6-3, 2-6, 10-8. Tom defeated Mollie Campbell, 7-6, 6-0, in fifth singles.

The Gators (8-6, 1-0 NCAC East) will be in action next when they visit Grove City on Tuesday. The match will start at 3:30 p.m.
