HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Allegheny men's tennis team won its sixth straight match as it defeated Nazareth, 8-1, on Tuesday.
Playing pro sets, the Gators won five of six individual matches and swept doubles competition. Winners in singles were Matt Chiricosta, Evan Gordon (pictured), Zach Kerosky, Jake Allmaras and Ben Hurtuk.
Chiricosta claimed a first-singles win over Adam Landry, 8-3, and Gordon was victorious over Stephen Trobert, 8-2, at second singles. Also for Allegheny, Kerosky defeated Alex Bodensieck at third singles, 8-2; Allmaras won against Ben Caiella in fourth singles, 8-2; and Hurtuk swept Collin Doran at fifth singles, 8-0.
At first doubles, Chiricosta and Hurtuk handled Landry and Trobert, 8-3, while in second doubles, Allmaras and Gordon were victorious against Bodensieck and Dan Matteo, 8-6. Kerosky and Eric Roginek also won in pairs, claiming a third-doubles victory over Caiella and Doran, 8-2.
The Gators (6-4) will wrap up Spring Break action on Wednesday when they take on Saint Lawrence at 8 a.m.
