NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Allegheny men's tennis team traveled to the campus of Westminster College Tuesday afternoon to take on the Titans of the PAC. The Gators completely overwhelmed Westminster, taking every set from the Titans in a 9-0 domination.
Patrick Cole, Alex Hurtuk, Charlie Murphy, Frank Mosconi, Keith Meyer and Tyler Miller all swept their respective singles matches. For freshman Keith Meyer, his 6-2, 6-1 number five singles victory over Ryan Carr was the first of his career, giving him a perfect 1-0 record as a Gator.
The doubles side of the competition was just as dominate for Allegheny, as all three pairs cruised to easy victories. For the number three pairing of Timothy O'Brien and Kevin Snyder, it was their first appearance in a duel match this season. They made a strong debut, handling the Westminster pair of Ryan Carr and Marshall Finelli 8-4.
The win improves the Gators to 6-6 on the season, as they look forward to a conference showdown with the Fighting Scots of Wooster at the Robertson Complex on Saturday. The match is scheduled for a 2:00 pm start.
